This is one of the best and most important questions anybody could ever ask. when something goes wrong in the body there are two ways we find out. We either have pain or something stops working. In either case the most common remedy is to turn to a drug.

The drugs for pain start with Tylenol and end up getting stronger until you get to the opioids. A recent Yale University study showed that chiropractic patients were 64% less likely to use opioids then non-chiropractic patients. The other drugs we take modify how our bodies function. They either speed something up or slow it down. Prior to taking these drugs, our bodies did this normally as needed.

Why the change? occasionally this happens because there is damage to an organ so that chemical cannot be made. OR, It could be because your body is unaware of that need or the organ is unable to. Sometimes this happens because of a misalignment in your spine called a subluxation.

Chiropractors actually have slightly more classroom hours then your medical doctor. The basic sciences of the same for both. As the education progresses, chiropractic education focuses on anatomy and physiology and particularly the nervous system as well as adjusting, whereas medical school focuses on pharmacology and toxicology.

I also speak from personal experience, having broken and dislocated my neck and crushing my spinal cord in 1990. I had to have surgery on my neck and it is chiropractic care that has literally kept me able to work and live a normal life.

Chiropractors are often thought of as back Doctors because we work with your back. We work with your back because it houses and protects your spinal cord and nerve roots (The beginning of your nerves). Your spine is essentially like the breaker panel in your basement. When a breaker trips in your panel, whatever is on the end of those wires receives no electricity and does not work until the breaker is flipped. Your spine and body work very much the same way. When a bone in your spine (vertebra) shifts out of its normal position, it starts to interfere with the nerves and whatever is on the end of that nerve does not work properly. Here’s a fun analogy: Do you only take your (Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, Birth Control, diabetes meds, etc) when you measure your BP, Cholesterol etc….Do you only take it when it is a problem? Or….. do you take it EVERY DAY????

Only if they need to be. We do not ASSUME that anyone needs to be adjusted. Adjustments to children are very safe and gentle. Appointments will include a criteria exam, discussion of concerns and a precise adjustment, only if necessary.

If you have been injured at work or in a car accident it is important to get your spine checked by a NeuroStructural Chiropractor. Science has shown that injuries sustained during a car accident or fall may not show any secondary conditions/symptoms for 7 YEARS! In 7 years time you will most likely have some form of permanent structural damage, AND be fully responsible for the lifetime of care that you will need (because the statute of limitations are up).
