How Does Chiropractic Care Help?

This is one of the best and most important questions anybody could ever ask. when something goes wrong in the body there are two ways we find out. We either have pain or something stops working. In either case the most common remedy is to turn to a drug. The drugs for pain start with Tylenol and end up getting stronger until you get to the opioids. A recent Yale University study showed that chiropractic patients were 64% less likely to use opioids then non-chiropractic patients. The other drugs we take modify how our bodies function. They either speed something up or slow it down. Prior to taking these drugs, our bodies did this normally as needed. Why the change? occasionally this happens because there is damage to an organ so that chemical cannot be made. OR, It could be because your body is unaware of that need or the organ is unable to. Sometimes this happens because of a misalignment in your spine called a subluxation. This affects the nervous system and much like a bad connection on your cell phone, it interferes with your brain and nervous system's ability to run your body. chiropractic care restores that communication allows your body to function the way it's supposed to, without drugs.

I Didn't Hear A Sound. Does That Mean The Adjustment Didn't Work?

We get this one a lot. The adjustment is about correcting the position of a vertebra to remove the interference to the nervous system. Sometimes there is a sound and sometimes there is not. One of my professors in school is to say, "if you had to have a sound, deaf patients and deaf chiropractors would get no results." In case you didn't know, chiropractic started when a deaf man got his hearing back.

Does Insurance Cover Chiropractic Visits?

Most insurances, including Medicare, do cover the sum chiropractic care. Most insurance policies have certain limitations and may not cover all the care you need. Very few insurance policies cover any maintenance care or lifetime care to keep you healthy. They will pay for a lifetime of medication, but not chiropractic.

How Safe Is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is one of if not the safest licensed healthcare profession in the world. Still there is some risk involved. In most instances when you hear that someone got hurt by a chiropractor, it is because that office did not screen for problems and do a proper examination. At precision chiropractic we carefully evaluate every patient and carefully study their x-rays to make sure that our solution is the right one for them prior to providing any care.

Is Chiropractic Care Safe While I'm Pregnant?

Absolutely! Chiropractic care has helped millions of women minimize any discomfort during their pregnancy and help them have wonderful deliveries.

Can I Become Addicted To Chiropractic Adjustments?

If you can get addicted to feeling great then yes! Chiropractic care is not addictive but many people find that they are able to function so much better and they feel so much better that they never want to stop coming.

Is Chiropractic Safe For Children?

Yes it is. This has been a hot topic the past year and you may have read some greatly inflated stories in an attempt to dissuade people from taking their children chiropractors. The truth remains that as long as a proper evaluation and exam is performed, chiropractic is safe for everyone.

How Much Schooling Does A Chiropractor Have?

Chiropractors actually have slightly more classroom hours then your medical doctor. The basic sciences of the same for both. As the education progresses, chiropractic education focuses on anatomy and physiology and particularly the nervous system as well as adjusting, whereas medical school focuses on pharmacology and toxicology.

Can I See A Chiropractor If I've Had Back Surgery?

If you have had back surgery you should be seeing a chiropractor. Any damage to a spinal joint, including surgery, should be evaluated and managed by a chiropractor. We spend more time studying the spine than any other profession on the planet and should be your go to for these conditions. I also speak from personal experience, having broken and dislocated my neck and crushing my spinal cord in 1990. I had to have surgery on my neck and it is chiropractic care that has literally kept me able to work and live a normal life.

How Long Will It Take To Work?

This is different for everyone. Some people have a simple problem that is easy to correct. Others have much more complex problems or degeneration of their spine that takes longer. In general, the sooner you seek care the better off you are in the easier it will be to fix.

WHAT IS HEALTH?

Is the definition of health feeling good? Google defines it as: the state of being free from illness or injury.

Let’s take this a few steps further:

Health is the body’s ability to ADAPT to stresses and function properly on a moment to moment basis here on planet Earth.

As people learn more about their health and how their bodies work they begin to realize how different their concept of health is from what they had originally thought. Health is much more than just feeling good, or being free from illness or injury. There are people who have cancer who still feel good. Heroin addicts feel good when they are high but are not healthy.

“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” This is one of the most profound statements ever made, and as Green Bay Chiropractors focusing on NeuroStructural Correction we take this statement to heart. Helping you achieve more, in terms of your health, is what we do.

We want you to adapt, perform, function, feel good and BE better than you thought you could.

WHAT IS CHIROPRACTIC?

Chiropractors are often thought of as back Doctors because we work with your back. We work with your back because it houses and protects your spinal cord and nerve roots (The beginning of your nerves). Your spine is essentially like the breaker panel in your basement. When a breaker trips in your panel, whatever is on the end of those wires receives no electricity and does not work until the breaker is flipped. Your spine and body work very much the same way. When a bone in your spine (vertebra) shifts out of its normal position, it starts to interfere with the nerves and whatever is on the end of that nerve does not work properly. Chiropractic is all about helping you heal from these shifts and perform as well as you can.

When other conditions exist we compliment and support many medical therapies.

DO I HAVE TO KEEP COMING?

No you don’t. No one has to come. But……. a savvy health care consumer WILL, and here’s why: MOST people who come in are not here because of one injury. MOST are here because they have accumulated MANY years of injuries that have finally reached a breaking point. Injuries are part of LIFE. We can patch you up, but at some point, if you discontinue care, those same issues will cause the same problem with one exception- It is usually worse and takes longer to correct the second or third time around.

Rather than playing “the pain game”, or only coming in when you hurt, the savvy consumer will come in regularly for what we call PROTECTION CARE. Here’s a fun analogy: Do you only take your (Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, Birth Control, diabetes meds, etc) when you measure your BP, Cholesterol etc….Do you only take it when it is a problem? Or….. do you take it EVERY DAY????

SHOULD I GET MY CHILD OR INFANT ADJUSTED?

Only if they need to be. We do not ASSUME that anyone needs to be adjusted. Adjustments to children are very safe and gentle. Appointments will include a criteria exam, discussion of concerns and a precise adjustment, only if necessary.

IS CHIROPRACTIC COVERED BY INSURANCE?

We accept all insurances and are providers for many plans. Please call and ask for our insurance specialist to confirm your coverage.

CAR ACCIDENTS, PERSONAL INJURY AND WORKERS COMPENSATION

If you have been injured at work or in a car accident it is important to get your spine checked by a NeuroStructural Chiropractor. Science has shown that injuries sustained during a car accident or fall may not show any secondary conditions/symptoms for 7 YEARS! In 7 years time you will most likely have some form of permanent structural damage, AND be fully responsible for the lifetime of care that you will need (because the statute of limitations are up).

It doesn’t matter if: your car damage is minimal, the damage sustained by a car is in no way indicative of the damage/injuries sustained by the occupants. Nor does it matter that it was a minor slip. A fall isn’t “just a fall”. Claims specialists know this and hope that you don’t.

WORKERS COMPENSATION

Injuries can happen at work. Both you and your company need you to get back to work quickly. With our care tailored specifically to meet your needs, we can help get you return to work as quickly as possible.
